Strangers sing at toddler’s rosary

a follow up now to the story of a toddler who died last week after a car crash in albuquerque. we told you about little brandon lucero dying on friday. now some family members are pressuring police to arrest the man who rear-ended the car the boy was in. police don’t think the driver was drunk, but are waiting for blood test results to see if he was high on drugs.. meanwhile, the toddler’s family held a rosary tonight.. which turned out to be quite remarkable. minute thumbnail 10:04 pm joe vigil is live at french mortuary with the story. we just couldn’t ignore this story. it’s an incredible example of how you don’t need to know someone to help them. 17 month old brandon lucero died in the crash. family members say what really hurts is the reaction from his twin brother ryan seen here on the left. “they were making the posters for the front of the service. i guess he sat up and pointed at the picture and said baby. the baby. i know he’s missing him i mean they were together constantly.” tonight mike defries, his wife and daughters, other relatives and friends sang for the rosary. defries wasn’t supposed to be in albuquerque today and minute thumbnail 10:05 pm certainly wasn’t supposed to be singing at a rosary. his family was supposed to be on its way back to boulder today after singing at his mother greta’s memorial service here just two days ago. lucero family members were inside making arrangements for brandon when they heard singing. “just heard the beautiful singing

Toddler could have faced repeated abuse

A two-year-old Santa Fe boy is still in the hospital tonight, at risk of losing his legs because of possible abuse. Although the boy's family had been reported to CYFD more than once, the department says, unfortunately, it's common for families to be re-referred for abuse, once in the system. Romaine Serna spokesperson for the Children, Youth, and Families Department says she can't comment on specific cases, but admits it's heart-wrenching when a child whose family has been referred to the agency becomes seriously hurt.
